Try elevating your feet higher than your heart.

Cold packs of you can stand it.

Hi Andrew, yes, what Tracey said!!! Also Jenni is right re the check for heart etc. I have just had a heart scan that my gp sent me for due to swollen ankles. It was clear, but they have to be on the safe side. The person who did the scan told me there was nothing to worry about and she would notify my gp. Make sure you get tested though, best to be on the safe side
